Sardinia, is a large island to the west of mainland Italy. While apart of Italy, the locales maintain their own distinct culture.

The island is known largely for its sun, sand and surf, which draws both locales and foreigners. Sardinia's mountainous interior also attracts hikers, and cyclists in particular, who enjoy its windy mountain roads.
